Corinne Ah Choon
Investment Consulting – Toronto
Corinne joined Eckler in 2018 as an investment consultant and has nearly 20 years of industry experience. She serves a diverse range of clients across multiple sectors. Corinne is a key member of Eckler’s Investment Research Steering Committee, leads the firm’s Canadian equity and decumulation manager research, and plays a senior role within the global equity research team. Before joining Eckler, Corinne managed relationships with private and public plan sponsors, record keepers, and consultants at an asset management firm. She began her career at a large financial institution, where she spent a decade in various roles, focusing on the development and oversight of a global investment product platform. Corinne holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from York University and is currently pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Matthew Didier, FCIA FSA
Life Insurance Consulting – Toronto
Matthew (Matt) came to Eckler in 2024 with over 17 years of actuarial experience across valuation, pricing, asset-liability management and corporate actuarial functions. In his last role as Assistant Vice President of Corporate Actuarial at an insurer, he led the actuarial transition of a large block of Group/Affinity business. Since joining Eckler, he has taken on many diverse assignments, including actuarial peer reviews, Financial Condition Testing exercises, quarterly reporting, and multiple pricing assignments. Within the industry, Matt has almost 10 years of CIA volunteer experience, mainly related to the education and qualification process. Through this experience, Matt has expanded his professional network to other industry leaders in Group, P&C, Life, and Pensions. Matt holds a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo and is a Fellow of both the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) and the Society of Actuaries (FSA).

John Spencer, FCIA FSA
Pension Consulting – Toronto
John joined Eckler as an actuarial student in 2006 and now has nearly two decades of dedicated service in pension consulting. His expertise lies in untangling the complexities of multi-employer and target benefit pension plans. John focuses on balancing stakeholders’ interests with regulatory compliance, ensuring sustainable pension solutions. In fact, he’s been heavily involved in Eckler’s response to new target benefit legislation in Ontario, including preparing submissions to the Ontario government and working with clients on implementation. John is recognized for his ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and deliver innovative solutions that meet his clients’ unique needs. A Fellow of both the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) and the Society of Actuaries (FSA), John holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Actuarial and Statistical Sciences from Western University.

Scott Thompson, FCIA FSA
Pension Consulting – Calgary
With Eckler since 2023, Scott is our first actuary located in Alberta (Calgary) and has very quickly grown Eckler’s brand in the province. He has over 17 years of actuarial experience and has consulted to a wide range of clients on their pension and savings plans. His expertise broadly covers all areas of defined benefit consulting. Scott has experience working with plans registered in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Federally, including several multi-jurisdictional plans. He also has international experience, having worked for multi-national companies in São Paulo and Tokyo. Scott is known for his strategic thinking and ability to develop tailored solutions that address the specific needs of his clients. Scott is also a frequent speaker at industry events, contributes to various professional publications, and volunteers with the regional councils of both ACPM and CPBI. Scott graduated from the University of Calgary with a double major in Actuarial Science and Economics. He is currently a Fellow of both the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (FCIA) and the Society of Actuaries (FSA).
