Experience

With Eckler since 2024, Matt is a Consulting Actuary in our Toronto-based life insurance consulting practice. Since joining, he has contributed to actuarial peer reviews, produced Financial Condition Testing exercises (FCTs) and quarterly reporting, and supported multiple pricing-related projects.

Before Eckler, Matt was Assistant Vice-President, Corporate Actuarial, at a small Canadian insurer for two years, where he led the actuarial transition of a large, acquired block of Group/Affinity business. During this time, Matt played a key role in presenting actuarial material to executive management and attending meetings of the board and the audit committee.

Matt has an extensive background in life insurance gained through 15 years at one Canada’s largest life insurers where he held a diverse set of senior Director roles. This included four years of individual life pricing, four years of segregated fund hedging and ALM, and seven years of various Valuation-related roles.

In his spare time, Matt enjoys playing hockey and taking his German Shepherd on long hikes.
